14 Weeks

We were finally able to see this precious little baby! We went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago and everything went great. The baby is measuring correctly, right along with my due date. It was such a special moment to see this baby! We just needed to see that something was really growing in my belly. It definitely felt like I was pregnant but seeing this only made it better. We had a good time and then went out to celebrate at Olive Garden! I had not been eating very good but I ate and ate and ate! My appetite is back in full force now...I think. The baby does like french fries and bread. Nothing really new because I liked those before but some meals I eat, all I want is bread.

I went for a massage today and it was fabulous! It's been a crazy week at school. Kindergarten is very interactive. Today we had Pilgrims Day. We made butter, ice cream, and bubbles. The kids rode a horse and buggy and walked on stilts! It was a fun filled day but tends to leave you absolutely exhausted!

Other than that...everything is going great! Our next appointment is at 16 weeks. Will update soon!

12 weeks

I have energy today...I'm asking myself...how long is it going to last? This week has been good! I was so excited to turn 12 weeks... 1) because we will have our first sonogram on Wednesday and 2) I feel like I have been waiting for 12 weeks for a long time! This week I wasn't as tired as most and able to be a little more productive. It is so hard being pregnant when you thrive on being productive. I have learned to slow down and take it all in. I'm feeling more and more human again. I know so many people that are pregnant right now, it's so fun! We all have pretty close due dates and it's great to share with each other.

Jon had a pretty "bad/good" day last week. He was involved in his first pursuit in Lubbock. I got a text from him that said "Pursuit, everythings ok, I'm in Lubbock, I'll be home late, love you." My first reaction was "Well..." I was so anxious to hear all of the details. Jon called me when he was on his way home and I asked, "Did you catch him?" His response was..."What do you mean, did I catch him?" :) I laughed and then felt a little bad! He did a great job in the pursuit and I'm so proud of him. I am also thankful that everyone was okay. If you know Jon, he is as cool as a cucumber and nothing really excites him, but this did! I knew my life as a trooper's wife would be a little scary but my first instinct was not fear; I wanted to know all the details! I told Jon he said all of the right things in his text.

Anywho...updates to come!

My Maddie

It's been almost a month since we lost Maddie. 3 days shy of our fence being built this happened. Sam and Maddie wondered off and we found them in a cotton field. Apparently, Maddie got into something toxic and it killed her within 5 hours. It was horrible. I will spare the details because this is very hard for me to write. I miss her so much and still ache for her. One of the things we loved most about our country house was having a place for the dogs to run and play. She really loved it though. Just wanted to pay tribute to the dog that I love most. I hope the pet you love never dies, it's so hard...

Life in the Country...

We are back in business folks...

1) We survived VEGAS!
2) We painted the house...not all of it...
3) We moved into the house...
4) I started my new job...
5) We closed on the house...

Living in the country is a whole different ball game. The first night we slept without blinds on the windows and I slept like a baby. I still don't have blinds up in my living room...this would bother me in the city. The dogs run around and have all of the freedom they want while we are at home. When we leave, we lock them up in the horse pin, ha ha! They love it! We burn our trash now...never thought I would say that but it's pretty cool. I love how it disappears so fast! We had to cancel Tivo...the dish DVR is just not the same. We have a home phone...never thought we would have one of those either. We had to switch cell phone providers because there are no bars out here. Thank you Sprint! I own an orange blackberry now...trying to get used to it. I miss my blackjack. I finally joined the world of the internet on my cell phone...still trying to figure that one out too. We finally have internet!!! It's called Wild Blue as you can imagine and it's actually not near as bad as I thought it would be. I saw the biggest fly I have ever seen, didn't know God made them that big!

I have been working in my classroom and trying to get ready for 16 kindergarten kiddos. It's coming along well...just overwhelming. I think it will go okay, just a little nervous!

I'll leave you with a story about Sam and the second close call with the sheep...

It was 9:30am and I was showing my mom the barn area and didn't think to keep the dogs out of the sheep/goat pin. The animals were at the complete other end of the pin (about 1/2 mile away). O no...those dogs took off running and decided to be sheep dogs. They were seperating one from the herd and were being mean to it. At one point, Sams teeth were around one's neck. It was so sad, I yelled for them to stop...they wouldn't! I ran atleast a mile after these dang dogs. I had to get my mom to go get Jon out of bed (he got home late from work, like 3am). Long story short...I rounded up the dogs and disciplined them. By this time they were so exhausted they wouldn't move. Jon had to get the truck and come pick them up. Needless to say...they were grounded to the horse pin the rest of the day. I was sooo mad, I just knew they were going to kill one of those sheep. I think I left some funny parts out...I could have made this a whole lot longer!

This just in...

11:25 pm
Jon: "I think I can stand on my hands..."
Lou: Really?

I contribute this to the 7 foot ceilings...he thinks otherwise! Awe...we're going to miss this quirky house! We have started packing...as you can see. :) Had to share, it made me laugh!
